911: E-mail to Heaven
is a collection of poetry dedicated to those whose lives were somehow affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001. Some are dedicated to specific groups of people while others are general prayers, thoughts, or reflections on the circumstances in which these people may now find themselves.

One of the poems is written from the perspective of a husband who lost his wife. The little touches she has left around the house remind him that she is no longer with him in “I Miss You, Honey!”:

Her apron still hanging in the kitchen
It still smells like fried chicken…
Her robe still thrown at the foot of the
Bed. I smell her fragrance in the air…
I hold her pillow as I begin to cry…

Another is written from a different perspective. This time it is that of a child. “A Prayer for My Daddy” is a prayer in which God is asked to speak to the deceased of his loving father:

…God I know through your eyes daddy
Can see what a beautiful child
I turned out to be.
God can you talk to my Daddy please,
Tell him
Mommy and I love him please.

911: E-mail to Heaven contains seemingly heart-wrenching poems that speak of the anguish, sadness, and loss experienced by the 9/11 victims. Those who have lost loved ones or who were deeply touched by this tragedy may be interested in this book.

Natasha Flowers was born and raised in Southern California. She began her writing career in 2002 starting with poetry and later writing children’s books.
