by Jean Black Parker

This story was inspired by my granddaughter, Amanda.

On weekends and for six weeks in the summer, I would keep my granddaughter, and I would tell her stories. One day, she drew her hands on a sheet of construction paper, and we hung it on the refrigerator. She always wanted to help me with everything. She loved to wash dishes and read, so Amanda and grandma wrote a story together. And now I hope other children will enjoy reading about Amanda and create happy times with their grandmothers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The stories I write are inspired by my family and friends.

I was born in Van Buren, Arkansas, and I lived on a farm during my youth. I have thirteen grandchildren, and I love each one of them dearly. In my leisure time, I love crafting and writing poetry and stories for children. I work fulltime, and I love working on my computer and the Internet. I like to write about events in my life and someday, I would like to write a book on things that have happened in my life.

My grandchildren are my inspiration. I am now taking a class, “Institute of Children’s Literature,” which I hope will help me in the future with my writing.
