by David Selvin

Cantos is a history of the universe, the planet, the nation, and the life of an artist living in New York City. Stefan Deldus graduates from high school in 1955 and moves to the Lower East Side. From there he lives a life of highs and lows. Most are reported to his confessor, a supposed psychiatrist named Dr. Fred Friedling. The story ends at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

About the Author

I was born in England and grew up in Norway. My parents and I emigrated to the U.S. when I was a teenager. In college, I worked for the first Free-Form radio station. From there I began working at Pacifica Radio’s New York station, WBAI. After being appointed Pacifica’s Washington Bureau Chief, I covered the Senate’s Watergate hearings as well as the White House. I went on to produce news and documentaries for NPR, the CBC, and the BBC. Broadcasting Magazine named me “one of the top two documentary producers in the country.”

I later gave up radio to raise a son and daughter. As a virtually single parent, I began a career as an artist. My work was shown in U.S. embassies, the Corcoran, and the Italian Embassy, among other venues. Once the kids went to college, I also returned to earn a Masters in Education. I’ve taught in New York and England.

I am now a writer. My first novel, Bel Pre Murders, has already been published.
