by Rose Sherman

In this illustrated true story about a mallard duck named Danielle, Rose Sherman teaches children that while it’s good to help wild animals, they must be released once they are ready.

Farmer Tim finds a damaged nest in the field with an egg in it. He gives the egg to his son Joshua, who hatches and raises the duck and enjoys a unique bond with her. In late summer, Joshua’s family helps Danielle reunite with other mallard ducks at a nearby lake. She truly loves the lake and her new family. The following spring she has a family of her own, one that Joshua and his family visit often.
