by Margit M. Payne

For most of us who worked outside of the home, raised kids, and kept up with housework, the thought of retirement from our job outside the home was associated with the golden years. With all the planning and dreaming, we may not have realized how quickly plans can change, be it loss of a spouse, illness, or financial difficulty.

I hope my little book can be of some help or encouragement or provide a little humor. After all, any of us can only take one day at a time the way they come. I try to give a little advice and hope my handling of everyday emotions also brings some peace to my fellow seniors.

Margit is a retired first-generation German immigrant. She loves history. She came to the United States as a twenty-three year-old and has been there for forty years. She picked up writing as a sixty-four-year-old grandmother and enjoys putting her thoughts on paper. Her writing style reflects the same as if she is talking with a friend over a cup of coffee. Her first book was her life story intended for her grandchildren and other members of her family. She has an interesting life background.

She was born in a German colony called Sudetenland, now called the Czech Republic. Her family evacuated their home in 1946, when Margit was six years old. She came to the United States in 1963.
