by Jimmy Smith

Growing up in a small town in the Mississippi Delta during the 1930s exposed Jimmy Smith to a childhood of adventures and a wild array of characters. Those times were harder and the social mores were entirely different than today’s. This book is a window to the past, as seen through the eyes of a little boy.

“This reprinting of Jimmy Smith’s original book makes it possible for more people to have an insight into the loves and lifestyles of…a generation which is an essential part of the history of the Mississippi Delta. The small towns that dotted the Delta were rich in history and personalities. Too few chronicles exist to give the present and future generations that view of this past generation’s lifestyle.” Andrew Westerfield, Mayor of Merigold July 2004
