ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Naomi Stevan Cavalier began her college education when she was thirty-five, receiving her masters degree in social work from the University of Minnesota in 1977, the same year her oldest son received his medical degree. She was a prolific writer with a great sense of humor and was a strong women’s advocate. The University hired her to be a counselor for older women returning to college. She received a grant to produce programs for older women on Minnesota Public Radio.

After her husband retired, they moved to California, where Naomi continued to write commentary about women’s issues, national and local politics, family, and fiction. She was a regular commentator on public radio stations KPFA, Berkeley and KQED, San Francisco. Many of her essays were published on the senior women’s web site, www.seniorwomen.com.
